The Schuman Garden
Situated in Predboj, Czech Republic, the Schuman Garden has an interesting quality of combining vernacular principles of Landscape Architecture with the contemporary needs of daily life. It integrates the house in it’s surroundings, providing pleasant environments to be used everyday with the sky as a roof. The Garden is intended to be versatile and was developed to create possibilities. It was not a goal to develop a static garden, but rather a structure which grows and adjusts to the changing needs of the Schuman family.
Its structure spreads through the garden mostly by sculpting the ground allowing vegetation to grow. It creates spaces and pockets, open free spaces, cozy nesting possibilities as well as some hiding places, running options and indulging moments. |
