Pedro's art research is centred in exploring bridges between Landscape and Dance. After a degree in Landscape Architecture in Lisbon and Helsinki and his dance training in Dundee, Prague and Berlin, he now finished the MA program ex.e.r.ce at the National Choreographic Centre of Montpellier.
Having as a foundation the crossing and interweaving of the creative processes of two different professions: landscape architecture and choreography, the core of the artistic practice of Pedro Prazeres relies on the relationship between the place, the subject and the ethereal. He plays with changing states of consciousness and in turn perception. The sense of touch has gained a high importance due to its connection to all the senses: tactile, auditory, visual, olfactory, taste and also proprioceptive and intuitive. The work expands on altering the way the body perceives the stimuli, by connecting to a specific frequency. Furthermore, he is interested in how communication emerges from this relationship in empathy.
As collaborator in the interpretation and/or creation of performances Pedro has worked with renown choreographers, visual and sound artists in Berlin, Prague, Montpellier, Lisbon, Barcelona and more recently in Porto.
As teacher, he started to teach Landscape perception through somatic techniques to architecture students in Prague Technical University. After he continued this work in Berlin with Landscapes in Motion - laboratories where he shares is research exploring his practice among others. The laboratories were brought to dance festivals, dance schools and dance studios in Montevideo, Montpellier, Barcelona and Lisbon. He is the co-founder of Homeless Kingdom – creative platform, producing synergic projects between landscape, dance and photography and the Designed For Touch project exploring different concepts of touch and its place in the nowadays.
Pedro is also involved in different projects as dramaturge with S. Cansu Ergin (TK), Ana Vargas (PT) and others.
